about

Banker4880x.jpg

Carol was born and raised in Ann Arbor Michigan. As a true midwestern girl, she graduated from The University of Michigan with a BA in Film Studies.

Michael Cimino’s The Deer Hunter was her initial intro to what would become a lifelong love of cinema (especially the cinema of the 1970’s) which blossomed into a true passion for American Independent Film, World Cinema, and the golden age of television.

After a few years in NYC, working mostly in theatre, she moved to LA and landed several different positions on low budget films, climbing her way to her first professional DGA job on The Lone Gunmen for 1013 Productions and Fox Studios. She put in her 10,000 hours on multiple and various procedurals, like NYPD Blue, Commander In Chief, and Code Black. Carol gained the skills and confidence to tackle long form storytelling on big budget, VFX heavy television. In the years since, Carol has gone on to direct over 40 hours of television shows such as Reacher, SweetTooth, Gotham, Titans, and The X-Files.

She has enjoyed working all over the world with like-minded passionate filmmakers and finds that she feels at home in all sorts of towns and cities that support and nourish artists including Toronto, London, New Zealand, Atlanta, Santa Fe, New York and Vancouver.

Carol is lucky to work in a variety of genres, always appreciating and loving the collaborative nature of filmmaking, world-building, and the importance of humor both on-screen (even in drama) and on-set. She brings these values to set by encouraging everyone to thrive and creating and nurturing a warm, trusting, safe, and fun environment whether she’s working as a guest director or as Producing Director.

Away from set, Carol is a proper bookworm, a peripatetic world traveler, a cocktail maker, party thrower, gardener and dog(s) owner.
